Don't forget these things before commencing your new-build
Commencing a new-build is a major project and one that takes a lot of planning, time and effort.
If you're in the process of planning a self-build, you might be concerned about potential things you have forgotten about that can affect your build.
Here, we go through a few things to keep in mind before starting your self-build, so that you can have peace of mind that things will run smoothly.
Whilst it is tempting to thoroughly plan the interior of your property and everything that comes with it, it can be easy to forget about other aspects of a project such as soil surveys. Soil surveys will identify anything below where you intend to build and are therefore crucial to your project. It's worth keeping aside a segment of your budget in order to prepare for any unforeseen issues. Pipes and cables may not appear on any plans but may be present underneath the property, so it is certainly worth doing.
We all know that the weather in the UK can be a little unpredictable. Adverse weather conditions, particularly at the start of your self-build can have a damaging impact if the foundations of your project have just been excavated. It's a good idea to think of solutions ahead of time. For example, planning to get a submersible pump in case there is heavy rain, invest in rolls of hessian or water resistant tarp in the case of a cold night.
Clear the planning conditions
Before starting your self-build, it's important to clear up any issues that need to be discharged before the build. There is likely to be a number of restrictions attached to your plan when you seek consent from the local planning office, so seeking approval on external materials such as bricks and windows should be conducted prior to commencing the build.
