In our most recent work, we were contracted by Rigg Construction (Southern) Ltd who construct new builds, to undertake a design and construction of a piled foundation to a pair of new build council bungalows being built for Wiltshire Council. [1]

The bungalows were built with the aim of helping the older residents of the local community and were designed to be energy and cost efficient, as well as being tailored to fit the needs of an elderly person.

There is currently a shortage of affordable housing which has left the UK in a housing crisis, meaning many families and elderly people are unable to afford rental and energy rates. The current scheme by Wiltshire Council involves a £42.5 million housing development programme, which aims to build 220 new affordable homes by 2020 in Wiltshire.

Local councils are hoping to diminish the housing crisis by providing families and elderly residents across the country with affordable housing solutions. Wiltshire council is just one of the boards working with local communities to create housing. Their scheme aims to develop 5,540 affordable homes for families and elderly people across the country.

During the project, our team drove 21no steel cased bottom driven piles up to around 8 metres deep, then excavated and constructed 90 metres of reinforced concrete ground beams protected against clay heave. This job took two weeks to complete.
